Kawasaki KING SKYFRONT Tokyu REI Hotel to be opened on 1 June 2018.
Daiwa House Industry Co.,Ltd , Tokyu Hotels Co., Ltd. and Kawasaki City announced the opening of the Kawasaki KING SKYFRONT Tokyu REI Hotel on 1st June 2018. The hotel is located in the 40 hectare area of the Tonomachi KING SKYFRONT in the Keihin Industrial Region that spans Tokyo and Kanagawa Prefecture, and is close to Tokyo International Airport (Haneda Airport).
The concept of this lifestyle hotel is based on ‘The WAREHOUSE’ in a bustling town with state of the art research buildings for people to meet and network.
Notably, for the first time in the world, the Kawasaki KING SKYFRONT Tokyu REI Hotel is running its facilities utilizing low-carbon hydrogen derived from used plastic.
The Kawasaki Plant of Showa Denko K.K. produces low-carbon hydrogen from used plastic collected around Kawasaki City and pipes it to the hotel. Then, the Kawasaki KING SKYFRONT Tokyu REI Hotel uses pure hydrogen fuel cells to cover about 30% of its needs for electricity and heat from low-carbon hydrogen. This is the first example in the world of the use of low-carbon hydrogen gas made from used plastics into fuel cells set up in a hotel.
The hotel is cooperating with the Ministry of the Environment's "Regional Cooperation and Low-carbon Hydrogen Technology Demonstration Project".
