On July 13, 2015, a ceremony to commemorate the opening of the Innovation Center of NanoMedicine (iCONM) located in the Kawasaki INnovation Gateway (KING) SKYFRONT was held.

Led by Professor Kazunori Kataoka of the University of Tokyo, research and development activities will be carried out at iCONM to develop nanocarriers targeting refractory cancers and innovative treatment for neurological disorders including Alzheimer's disease in collaboration with researchers from other universities and industrial partners.

The ceremony was attended by about 200 participants including Mayor Norihiko Fukuda of Kawasaki City, Mayor Tadayoshi Matsubara of Ota City, council members, and those from businesses and universities.

iCONM is expected to become a research hub which attracts talented people, products and services, and capital from around the world.
